Just
a few km from Alicante is the ancient city of Elche with many
historical and cultural buildings. During the 19th century
the Dam of Elche was discovered. This bust of an Iberic Princess
dates from four centuries before Christ and is now the official
symbol of the city.
Elche is famous throughout Spain as the major grower of palm trees which are
exported around the world, the city also has a thriving shoe industry. |
