Situated
close to Torrevieja is the old town of Guardamar with its ancient
Moorish defence fort towering above the town.
The two towns are connected by a magnificent beach, 17km long,
with soft sandy
dunes running down to the sea.
Part
of this area has been declared "Parque Natural" (conservation area)
and the local authority has turned part of the pine wood into a beautiful park
with picnic facilities and walks through the pines down to the sea. |
